Press Release: Hebden Bridge Dance Festival needs 20 volunteers

The 1st "Hebden Bridge Dance Festival" on Sunday 9th of October is looking for 20 volunteers.

A new dance festival will be launched in Hebden Bridge in October: the first "Hebden Bridge Dance Festival". The festival aims are to promote all forms of dance in Calderdale,
establish a yearly dance festival in Hebden Bridge,
and raise funds for charities - this year Khalsa Aid (www.khalsaaid.org),
who have helped feed the people in Hebden Bridge after the Boxing Day flood.

The programme will begin at 10am, including a wide range of dance forms, for example: African dance, Buddhist dances, Seated Dance 4 All, Urban Street Dance, Southern Italian 'Tammurriata', Circle dance for all, Five Rhythms, French and Breton Dancing, Contact Dance Improvisation, Traditional Ceilidh and more - and finish with an After Party Disco.

The organisers Ralph Nimmann, Sophia Hatch and Terry Vergos describe their vision:
"Dance moves us in mysterious and wonderful ways,
towards healing and transformation, joy and oneness
within ourselves and with others...
Come sample many different dance forms to find which moves YOU...
We invite you to join us...  it may change your LIFE!"

Sophia Hatch says: "I am very excited to be part of this first Festival promoting many forms of dance here in Hebden Bridge AND raising money for Khalsa Aid. Dance transformed my life, and I hope lots of people, even if they don't think of themselves as a dancers, will come and dip their toes in and have a great time."
Terry: "Dance like any form of art is a way to re-imagine our world. I imagine, I have an idea, I create reality. Let's live in a beautiful world."

The organisers want to attract dancers from Yorkshire, Manchester and beyond and hope this festival will become another trademark of Hebden Bridge. They need support with spreading the posters and programmes around the region, and need about 20 volunteers to cover two hour time slots on the day.

Five venues will open their dance floors: Waterside Gym, Methodist Church,  Riverside School, the Trades Club and the Calderdale Yoga Centre.
