Appalachian step dancing with Phoebe Ophelia Douthwaite, 5:30pm - 7pm

In the workshop we will cover the basic steps of traditional Appalachian step dancing (flat footing) and learn how to combine steps for solo free styling. All levels welcome and please bring either hard leather soled shoes (preferably no taps) or shoes without grip.
Phoebe has taught Flat Footing at various festivals and schools (Sidmouth folk week, Whitby folk week, Northern School of Contemporary Dance) and internationally in Berlin, Argentina and USA.

Gong Folk Roots Dance with Gong master Kath Reade, 7:30pm - 9pm

Kath Reade - gong master

A free movement happening to the sound of the most ancient traditional acoustic instrument The Gong.

We know about the benefits of sound frequencies but the magical part is the holistic resonance of the gongs..... the magic of tone affects the skin, the cells of the body, and all of the levels inside of us. The mental, the emotional,  our higher visions, and even our states of ecstasy, of happiness, of feeling great.
The sound vibrations of the gongs are able to affect everything.
A Gong sound bath feels like you're in deep sea or deep space....
Like a disco dance, a body movement free improvisation...,,,
Its the most fun of all. Come along and join us. No steps to learn. No experience needed.
